Sebastião Pereira, is a talented musician whose journey began in the city of Fundão. From a young age, he showed a profound interest in music, starting his musical studies in classical guitar at the age of eight at the Academy of Music and Dance of Fundão, under the guidance of Professor Pedro Rufino. He continued his education and obtained a degree in Classical Guitar from the University of Évora with professor and guitarist Dejan Ivanovich.
During this period, Sebastião was awarded in several competitions, including the National Contest Cidade de Gaia, the Luso-Spanish Contest of Fafe, the International Contest of Almada, and the Guitar Festival Ciutat d’Elx.
His interest in Portuguese guitar flourished during his degree when he met, at the fado house Bota Alta, the guitarists Felipe Núncio and Bruno Chaveiro. Under the tutelage of Bruno Chaveiro and later Master Custódio Castelo at the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, he perfected his technique and his vision of the instrument.
Determined to deepen his knowledge and seeking experience in the world of fado, Sebastião moved to Lisbon, where he currently regularly performs in prestigious fado houses such as Casa de Linhares, Mesa de Frades, Fama d’Alfama, Fado ao Carmo, Sr. Vinho, among others. As a talented guitarist, Sebastião has accompanied, in concerts around the world, great voices of fado, such as Jorge Fernando, Pedro Moutinho, Ana Sofia Varela, Joana Amendoeira, Tânia Oleiro, and Teresinha Landeiro.
Despite being young and new to the scene, he has already had the opportunity to perform on important stages in various countries, such as Germany, France, Switzerland, Ireland, England, Spain, the Canary Islands, and Romania.
Sebastião is also part of a solo project, where accompanied by Portuguese guitar and bass, he performs his own compositions and compositions by guitarists of great relevance to the history of fado, such as José Nunes, Alcino Frazão, José Fontes Rocha, Carlos Paredes, and Pedro Caldeira Cabral.
For him, this type of instrumental music demonstrates not only the evolution of the instrument but also the unique techniques of each guitarist in creating a distinct musical language.
With this project, he has already appeared in various concert halls, such as the CCCB (Castelo Branco), Auditorium Mateus d’Aranda (Évora), Auditorium da Moagem (Fundão), and also participated in the International Guitar Festival of Fundão where he shared the stage with the great flamenco guitarist Carlos Piñana.
